Individual Note: According to the Spfld. Journal Obituary of June 9, 1982, Mr. Dodd was a retired horseman and farmer, who was a manager of Illinois State Fair horse shows for 28 years and a pickup rider for many Illinois rodeos.
According to an august 16, 1911 article in a Springfield newspaper, William G. Miller, a prominent Loami farmer, was killed by an explosion of a traction engine used as part of a corn sheller. Many people witnessed the accident and Carson Dodd, 18 years old at the time, was injured as were several others. Mr. Dodd's arm was severely injured in the accident.
