Individual Note: According to the History of Sangamon County, Paul moved in 1809 to Grafton County, New Hampshire and moved in September, 1815 to Ohio. In March, 1821, they set out for Morgan County, Illinois," with his daughter Isabelle, William Colburn, wife and three children, the four orphaned children of Isaac Colburn and a Mr. Harris." They found an empty cabin on the south side of Lick Creek and stopped from "sheer weariness." Mr. Harris went on to Morgan County.
According to the Historical Encyclopedia, Paul and Mehitable had 11 children in Massachusetts before returning to New Hampshire.

Individual Note: According to Sulphur Spr. Cem. records, he was a Sgt. in Co. F, 51st Ill. Infantry during the Civil War.
According to the Historical Encyclopedia & History of Sangamon County, Pt. 2, Levi was a carpenter with Lewis Cotterman earning "$8 per month, his board and washing, later plying the same trade with William Hammond. He was a carpenter and clerk till 1875 when he worked at brother Ebeneezer's saw and grist mill.
On July 13, 1862, he enlisted in Chicago. He was wounded in the shoulder at Chickamauga, but left the hospital at Nashville and returned to fight many battles and was discharged June 24, 1865.
Later in years, had the affectionate nickname of "Uncle Ote."
