John T. Hall, 77, Dies Following Length Illness
John Thomas Hall of Charlotte Court House died in Memorial Hospital Hospital Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock. He had been in declining health since last fall and for the past two weeks his condition has been serious.
Mr. Hall, 77, was born at Callands on June 25, 1877, a son of the late George Washington and Martha Washington Martin Hall. He had made his home at Callands until he moved to Charlotte Court House twenty-six years ago. He was a farm owner and had been able to attend to his duties as such until his recent illness.
He was a member of the Baptist Church and attended the Fairfield Baptist Church. He is survived by three daughters and one son: Mrs. B. E. Gauldin and Mrs. Viola Rittenberry of Danville, Mrs. R. M. Chattin of Blairs and Thomas G. Hall of Charlotte Court House. One brother, W. A(sic). Hall of Axton and seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of the Swicegood Funeral Home Saturday morning at 11 o'clock, with a graveside service at the Oak View Presbyterian Church Cemetery Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock body is resting at the funeral home. The family will meet at the home of his daughter, Mrs. B. E. Gauldin, 177 Martin Street.

Individual Note: He may have been from Charles Co, MD - From Rootsweb emails: Records from relatives indicate Richard Marsham Queen b. 23 Oct 1776 and his sister Jane b. 31 Aug 1779 -per Natalie Baker- Washington ,IN. from Charles County Wills Book I Page 111 (provided by Natalie Baker) Richard Marsham Queen, an orphan about six years of age on the 23rd day of October last is by the court and consent of his mother bound unto William Montgomery, of Peter, until he acquires tothe age of twenty-one, who being present in the court accepts thereof and engages to learn him to read distinctly on the Bible, to write a legible hand and to cypher as far as the
rule of threee and when free to give him a decent suit of apparel; to wit , of milled country cloth or German Sarge, a pair of shoes and stockings a fine hat and two white shirts and a silk handkerchief. Tues April 8, 1783. A similiar court record also exists for his sister Jane Queen.

Individual Note: According to Pritchett, Abraham came from Gloucester County with his family and inherited land on Whetstone Creek, Nottaway Parish, in Amelia County, VA. He was tithable in Pittsylvania Co, VA in 1767 and 1770. He was killed in the battle of Guilford Courthouse.
